Child Health Surveillance
Routine checks on the development of babies and children are undertaken by Dr Khalid in conjunction with Health Visitors. A clinic is held on the second and fourth Friday of each month at the Broughton Astley Surgery.
Carers
The Practice participates in a national initiative to identify carers. Carers may benefit from an annual health screen carried out by the Practice Nurse and an annual vaccination against influenza. In addition patients can choose to be referred to Voluntary Action South Leicestershire who can provide further information on the range of services available to assist carers. If you feel you may qualify as a carer please contact the Surgery and ask for the Carers Link Worker.
Contraceptive Services
We offer all forms of contraception - pill, implant, depo, IUCD, IUS and cap. Special appointments are required for coils (IUCD’s), implants and cap fittings. Please enquire via Reception.
Health Checks
The NHS Health Check Programme was introduced as part of Government plans to focus the NHS towards patient empowerment using a ‘predict and prevent’ approach by giving people the necessary information about their health whilst supporting changes to their lifestyle.
Maternity Services
All the Doctors, together with the Midwife, provide care for patients during pregnancy and most antenatal appointments will be at the Surgery. Occasionally the hospital prefers to see patients for all of their visits. When you know you are pregnant you must make a booking appointment with the Midwife.
Postnatal Checks
All new mothers should have a check-up six weeks after the baby has been born. These checks are normally carried out by one of the Doctors at the Surgery. Occasionally the hospital where the birth took place will arrange this check.
Podiatry
Podiatry services are available by self-referral or by a doctor’s recommendation. Please enquire at Reception.
Travel Advice and Vaccinations
Please consult the Practice Nurse as soon as possible, allowing a minimum of eight weeks before your intended trip. Certain vaccinations may incur a charge.
