Friends and Family Test

 The NHS Friends and Family Test (FFT) is the largest healthcare patient experience programme in the world. Based on a simple question, “Would you recommend this service to your friends and family if they needed similar care or treatment?” And a follow up question to ask Why? It allows patients to provide feedback that enables healthcare providers to simply make changes to their services to patient experience and see progress in ‘real time’. Friends and Family became a contractual requirement from 1st December 2014. The opportunity to give feedback through FFT should be available to every NHS patient. The feedback highlights good experience as well as opportunities for improvement. For each practice, NHS England will publish each month:

  •  The number of each category of response
  •  The number of responses collected through different collection modes (e.g. postcards, websites etc.)
  •  The proportion of positive responses (extremely likely plus likely)
  •  The proportion of negative responses (unlikely plus extremely unlikely)
