Practice Pharmacist

The Orchard Medical Practice

The Orchard Medical Practice is pleased to inform patients that we have secured the services of a Practice Pharmacist who will be assisting the Practice in a range of areas.

Commencing on 8 May 2017 the Practice Pharmacist will be working at the Practice for three days per week. The aim of this new service is to improve the therapeutic care of our patients in line with best clinical practice in collaboration with our existing clinical team.

Our Practice Pharmacist will be carrying out medication reviews when these become due. Therefore it will no longer be necessary for you to make an appointment with a doctor for this service.

The Practice Pharmacist is qualified to re-authorise repeat medication where appropriate and will identify if there is a need for further therapeutic intervention i.e. dose reduction/stopping medication. Advice will be offered on pharmaceutical issues and responses provided to any questions patients may have concerning their medication. This will be in line with evidence based practice, drug safety alerts and local and national guidance.

The Practice is pleased to be able to offer this additional service to our patients as it will facilitate the availability of more appointments with the doctors which were previously occupied by routine medication reviews.

It is hoped our patients will take advantage of the Practice Pharmacist Service but please ask a member of staff if you have any questions concerning this.
