Appointments with the Advanced Nurse Practitioner

The Practice has three Advanced Nurse Practitioners.  A Nurse Practitioner can assess a Patient, make a diagnosis and provide treatment including prescribing medication just like a GP.  However, this is within a clearly defined scope of Practice that is agreed by the Partners and the level of complexity is usually less that that of a GP. 

The Advanced Nurse Practitioner can advise, treat and prescribe for the following conditions.

  • Ear ache
  • Colds and flu
  • Sinusitis
  • Cough
  • Hay fever
  • Conjunctivitis/sty
  • Fevers
  • Rashes
  • Skin conditions
  • Eczema
  • Urine infections
  • Cystitis
  • Constipation
  • Diarrhoea
  • Vomiting
  • Stomach ache
  • Indigestion
  • Back Pain
  • Sprains and Strains
  • Headaches
  • Dizziness
  • Vaginal discharges
  • Ingrown toe nails
  • Fungal nail infections
  • Acne
  • Bites

Appointments with the Nurse/Healthcare Assistant

The following problems can be dealt with by the Practice Nurses or Healthcare Assistant:

  • Minor injuries
  • Dressings
  • Removal of Stitches
  • Ear Syringing
  • Blood Pressure Checks
  • Injections
  • Holiday Vaccinations and Immunisations.
